The hard disk is the most unreliable hardware component of a computer. That's because it contains a lot of moving parts and generates a lot of heat. This is why hard disk problems are a common thing. When problems occur, your data may be in danger and can get corrupted. The same goes when becoming infected with certain viruses or malware. In these situations, your data may get deleted from the hard disk and unless you have a backup of your important information, it's impossible to get your data back. But with the development in technology, recovering deleted and lost data is now possible.

When deleting and removing files and folders from the hard disk, the information is not actually gone, but hidden, still being present on the hard disk clusters. Using the right tools, it's possible to recover that deleted data. Programs like HDD Mechanic can help you in this case. It's a simple Windows application which can help you recover all your deleted and lost data from a hard disk in the quickest time possible.

The program has a familiar Windows installer which gets the job done fast. After launching the application, a simple wizard will be displayed, guiding the user through the process of recovering his deleted data. For this to happen, one first has to select the partition or hard disk from where he lost his files and folders. Next, the file system type should be selected. That's pretty much it.

At this point, the program will start scanning the hard disk and will state the number of found files and folders in real time, as the data is found. After the scanning process is over, the user will see the found folders and files and he will be able to preview some of them. For example, deleted images can be previewed in the program's interface, before they are recovered. After the files are analyzed, the user is able to recover them by following a simple wizard. By default, all found files are selected to be recovered but one may choose only certain files.

Pros

It features a simple step by step wizard for finding and retrieving deleted files and folders. Besides that, the program supports virtually any hard disk or memory device. Furthermore, found files can be previewed before they are recovered.

Cons

The demo version has some limitations, as it adds a watermark to certain found file formats. HDD Mechanic allows you to easily recover all your lost and deleted files and folders in the easiest way possible.
